The Boca Secondary School Sports Season has begun. With two major events already completed for the 2013-2014 calendar year. The houses- Antoine (Green), Bishop (Red), Edwards (yellow) and Marryshow (Blue) take part annually in a serious of athletic, track and field events to win the coveted Champions’ trophy. On Friday September 27th, the Around the Bamboo race was completed.  This race takes students from the school down to Snug Corner junction then up the Bamboo, The Caye, and down the Boca road back to the School. The winners were:-

Male Category

1st Kurt Francis – Bishop House

2nd Romar  Frank- Bishop House

3rd Kelroy Simon- Marryshow House

Female Category

1st Zenicka Nelson- Marryshow House

2nd Tisha Checkley- Bishop House

3rd Letecia Gabriel- Edwards House

At the end of the event with all points tallied the points standing was;


Bishop House (Red) -140 Points

Marryshow House (Blue) -124 Points

Edwards House (Yellow) -103 Points

Antoine House (Green) -79 Points

Today, October 22nd, 2013, the annual cross country was held; the participants completed a challenging route with the first person returning to the school in just over an hour.

The route takes students from the school through Melrose onto the La Mode road, down Mt. Gay, up Tempe (past the Old Coke Factory), up to the Mt. Parnassus/St. Paul’s intersection, the students ran down the St. Paul’s main road, White Gun, Lucas Street, Girls took the route through to Observatory Road, down Mottley Hill and back to School; for the boys, they continued up to Old Fort and down Cemetery Hill, through River Road and back to the school.


The winners were as follows:

Boys Category

1stRomar Frank, Bishop House in a time of 1:10:17

2ndKurt Francis, Bishop House in a time of 1:10:19

3rdKelroy Simon, Marryshow House in a time of 1:12:24


Girls Category

1st Brittany Williams, Marryshow House in a time of 1:24:13

2ndTisha Checkley, Bishop House in a time of 1:26:43

3rd Leticia Gabriel, Edwards House in a time of 1:37:25.


The next inter-house sporting event is the road relay which will be held in the month of November, followed by the Annual Sports Meet in the Hilary Term.

The Boca Secondary School has also been doing well in the Republic Bank Right Start Cup Youth Football Tournament. The Junior Boys remain unbeaten in their zone winning against Westmorland Secondary School 22-0; had a draw against Wesley College 1-1; against Happy Hill Secondary School 3-2.
